A common fear for compulsive eaters is a fear of what they might expose when they are skinny. They may fear being exposed to more sexual pressure, having to admit they don’t really “have a pretty face” or any of a million other things.
What also happens is a person’s personality changes. Any time a person goes through a big change like losing or gaining a lot of weight, their emotions are impacted, and therefore their personality will change. Face it. It’s not easy to do many things in life, and by doing them, we change.
On the way up in weight, a person might learn to love Cheetos. On the way down, it might be running. It takes a lot of effort and a special mindset to be either a very fat person, or a very dedicated exerciser. And it requires changing that mindset for a person of one type to become a person of the other type.
- I really love and appreciate the fact that I took care of myself as best I could in my early years.
- I really love and appreciate the fact that I now recognize that food as comfort isn’t working for me now, and I’m moving on.
- We still eat by the clock pretty often. My mind is now more open to skipping meals (I’ve done it once in a while) just because I’m not hungry.
- Not eating frees up time for more fun stuff. That’s great, since I’m running out of time at the end of the day.
- The feeling of wanting to be more active increases with decrease in food.
