Last week, I noticed that my weight loss is approaching 50 pounds. Eventually, it sank in that I’m achieving something important in my life, this normal intuitive eating. It’s something I’m quite proud of, and I was ready to set some goals.
Out to dinner with friends recently, they discussed how each of them keeps a bottle of good champagne in the fridge for really special occasions. My ears perked up, because I love a celebration. As they agreed that the best champagne to keep around was Moet et Chandon, I made a mental note to put a bottle in my fridge, and decided to celebrate when I reached 50 pounds lost.
I watched my weight loss come within a kilo of this goal, then overnight it jumped 2 kilo! Not a pound, or 2 pounds, but 2 kilo! Astonishing! The first time I set a goal for weight loss, Murphy’s law kicks in hard. What a lesson to learn. The cause of the weight gain? I’m not sure. Certainly it came after a day in which I ate relatively a lot, and drank relatively less water than usual, but it also is partially to do with not being able to swim during the last 10 days, due to the stitches in my thumb. Sigh. Lesson learned.
- I got to swim yesterday for the first time in 10 days. It felt good!
- I recognized after just one day that I wasn’t paying appropriate attention to my hunger/fullness
- I re-read my goals
- Last evening, I spent time meditating
- In the pool, I focused on the rhythm of the exercise and the good feeling it gave my body
