Positively Happy

I’m back home now, vacation is almost over.
The theme of this vacation was to give myself closure on some old family issues and give my daughter a sense of what it was like to grow up in the South. It was hugely successful, with many wonderful experiences, and I did get the closure I desired.
Random positives, in no particular order:
- Closure is good
- Walking away from past hurts makes me feel peaceful
- My daughter is unbelievably wise
- Not only did I not compulsively buy Cheetos to bring home with me, but I threw away a bag I’d carried for the two weeks, yet was still 90% full. They tasted icky.
- My childhood was small: small house, small environment, small minds. I am proud to be larger now, in every way
- Gone is gone, over is over
- Hotels now carry Comedy Central, HGTV and Food Network
- Nothing tastes better than really fresh corn on the cob (really fresh = picked within an hour)
- Air conditioning is glorious when the temperature is over 100 F
- Visiting graves can be comforting
- I love my life
- I experienced true happiness and peace after seeing my past and how far I’ve progressed
- Jack Daniels makes a great BBQ sauce
- I fastened the airplane seat belt without an extender for the first time in 10 years. This was on the way home, after I’d eaten everything I wanted for 2 weeks
- Letting go is freedom
