Kaegi-fretli, or chocolate cookie cravings
2 January 2008 by livingrainbowcolor
This year has a slightly different theme compared to last year. I’m more aggressive in eating less, and trying to lose weight while still eating intuitively. We’ll see how things go. Last year I lost a significant amount of weight, but don’t know how much, since my scale is broken and I’m in no hurry to get a new one. It’s over 50 pounds total for the last couple of years, which is quite an achievement.
What changes am I making? I’m making more choices in favor of lower calorie foods instead of always choosing the richest ingredients. I simply don’t feel the need to always eat the richest food anymore, and I do feel the need to reduce the unconscious calories I’ve been eating.
For example, I’ve cut my breakfast down by about half. The last couple of days I’ve eaten a half an English muffin and about 100 ml of milk, plus coffee and water. For some reason I have little interest in peanut butter, which used to be unmissable. When I make my lunch staple of a turkey sandwich, I don’t add mayonnaise unless the bread is quite dry.
Last night we went out to eat and I chose a vegetarian pasta, which ended up very low-cal by coincidence. Felt good and tasted good. Fresh zucchini and carrots are so delicious when prepared properly. Even rich fatty foods get unsatisfying after a while.
Don’t think I’ve gone all diet head on you all. For lunch today I ate cottage cheese and a pile of cookies. To be more exact, a whole box of cookies (6 ounces). It just happened, when I got a craving for these chocolate covered wafer cookies. We went to the movies on New Year’s Day, and the theater had Glühwein and cookies waiting for their customers. Mmmm - I love the holidays in Germany. Well on the cookie plate were several kinds, and I took one of my favorites, a waffle cookie with layers of chocolate between the cookies and the whole thing covered in chocolate. The Swiss make a good version called Kägi-fretli, and the Amis have Keebler elves making Fudge Sticks
A craving immediately arose, and DH stepped back out in the lobby for something, and kindly brought us each another cookie. DH offered to buy a box at the next shopping trip when I remarked that I now had a big craving for these things. I told him he shouldn’t, because I’d just eat the whole box when I didn’t want to. To make a long story short, I did the next shopping, bought the cookies, ate the cookies, now I’m done with the craving. Also a little sick.
Was it a binge? Probably not, since I associate a binge with beating myself up with food. If it was, it’s still over and I didn’t beat myself up for beating myself.

Honestly, best way to lose weight, just cut down on everything u eat..
Honest!
These diets like Atkins and Mediterranean, they just make u lose the weight really quickly then put it all back on.
This year I’m aiming to lose 20kg. Last year I lost 20kg and it has stayed off.
Just drink 2-3litres of water a day.. get yourself some diuretics. And hey presto you will start losing all your fluid.. which is about a pound a day.. if not more.
Good Luck! xx
