Attentively eating and identifying hunger

1800 calories is what I ate today, more or less. I’m just roughly estimating, since I’m not really trying to stick to any certain number. Add to that 4 hours of shopping walking, and I’m in pretty good balance for today, even though, a good portion of those calories was chocolate.
I notice that I have “hunger” that occurs when the clock strikes an habitual mealtime, like noon. It seems to be a false hunger that goes away again quickly. Later real hunger shows up, more insistently.
Hunger for me is a hollow feeling in my stomach that goes away with a glass of water, but comes back very soon if I’m really hungry. Then I start to think about which foods I’d like to eat, followed by a moment of craving a specific food. Afterwards, I get grumpy if I haven’t eaten anything yet, but the hunger feelings get less. Eventually it doesn’t matter much what I eat, as long as I eat something soon.
