The idea of a diet for an intuitive eater seems rather incongruous for some readers. Some of you have asked what I eat, and how I control something that’s supposed to be “intuitive.”
The intuitive part is easy. While I am an intuitive eater, I don’t have a lifetime of practice behind me, and I need to keep working to improve my IE skills. That means IĀ am stillĀ learning how to comfortably eat to different levels of fullness and be satisfied with it. Currently I’m choosing to learn to eat little enough to lose weight more consistently than I did last year.
Friday was my first day on the non-diet diet. I ate milk and graham crackers for breakfast. I thought I’d want some peanut butter with them, but I didn’t, so I put it back away. I also ended up pouring out a bit of milk. Lunch was a warm meal, with a meatloaf-like main dish, a small serviing of potatoes, and a spoonful of sauteed red and yellow peppers.
Later in the afternoon I tried to eat some mandarins, but they were too bitter to finish, so I had a granola bar instead. Dinner was a chicken breast with a salad, and we had a little candy and nuts during a movie.
For me that was a very typical day, with a little bit fewer calories than normal. Today was quite different with far more fruit and smaller portions. I’m preparing a little for tomorrow, since it’s my birthday and I’ve got a date for a birthday brunch and cake later that day.
This is my diet, and it meets my goals. Let’s see next month if any weight actually comes off.
